You've got Christi's story all wrong. It's not fiction, it's true. I know Peter, because I'm his workaholic neighbor. Yes, I know that my stereo irritates him, but I do it for his sake. If I left him alone without it, and didn't play "Journey to the Center of the Mind" all the time (the thing's broken, I got it out of the sodai gomi, so I have to unplug it to turn it off, and the volume knob is gone) he would have gone home by now, and I wouldn't have anyone to have curry with. I love a good curry on Tuesdays, just after I've finished my 5-litre of Daigoro for the weekend (It's an excellent mild purgative, and the 400-yen curry shop at the west exit of Shinjuku Station serves the best in town.) Peter's real secret isn't about his tramp of an ex-girlfriend, Kiyomi, it's really about Perer and I. You see, there really is no connection between Tokyo's Expat community, it's all an illusion. I am the connection between the Kings and Queens of the Expat world, and the droves of Liberal Arts majors asking for another bowl of gruel. I am the Robin Leech of Tokyo, and most of you don't even know it. The diplomat really was only 17th. in line to the throne of the King of Sweden, so he was given a minor post at the embassy. In fact, so minor, most people really didn't know what he did. That's when he came to me, and I helped him like I did Peter. The maid was quite talented, and I've set up a web page dedicated to her. However, it's too bad that the British couple didn't divorce, as both of them were know to slosh-slosh-ping-ping in their own ways, and I fancied them both. The banker really just handled my accounts, and so I let him come to Hankone as a bonus for getting the Tax Bureau off of my back. The playwright and metrosexual are avatars of myself, who I asked Christi to write in after a good afternoon of slosh-slosh-ping-ping and a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Paf. Now, Steph was my proat the very heart of the story. I could never get her to change that haircut, but wo change that haircut, but with enough slosh-slosh-ping-ping, she finally agreed to start infiltrating some new Expat hovels for me. The boredom was a msh-ping-ping, and had a full-time job as a cutey at a yochien. The landscape is the point, and you've missed the major character by an act of huge ammount der Unwissenheit. Of course Steph's boss is on my payroll, and he's been on the slosh-slosh-ping-ping with S. osh-slosh-ping-ping with Steph as well. Now, what the story doesn't tell you is that my broker is the guy who took Kiyomi from Peter, because I paid him to. The have made me rich from my seemingly humble gaijin house pad, and the telephone campaign is an overt distraction to keep Peter from realizing the truth. In Christi's next work, she's going to bring Peter and Kiyomi back, because I told her to. I'm tired of using Peter, and my broker is tired of Kiyomi. I'm really trying to get Steph to change her hair, so that Peter will go for her, but as you know, these Ex-Pat wannabes, while controllable, are like bees, somewhat unpredictable. Yield and overcome; Bend and be straight; Empty and be full; Wear out and be new; Have little and gain; Have much and be confused. Therefore the wise embrace the one And set an example to all. Not putting on a display, They shine forth. Not justifying themselves, They are distinguished. Not boasting, They receive recognition. Not bragging, They never falter. They do not quarrel, So no one quarrels with them. Therefore the ancients say, "Yield and overcome." Is that an empty saying? Be really whole, And all things will come to you. Question: Is it better to abide by the rules until they're changed or help speed the change by breaking them?
